High Birds and Supersonic Partridge

Writer: Caroline DellCaroline Dell

After a fairly slow Grouse season, my first day back at the amazing Upperwood for a pheasants and partridge day did not leave anyone disappointed.

After a very cold and misty start with the top of moors bathed in the first hard frost, the sun shone down on the valley and with a light wind the birds flew and flew and flew.

A great team of guns put on a fabulous display as the birds were driven of the top of the moor and over the valley below.

Upperwood is a stunning place to be on a a shoot day. Plenty of calories being burnt out beating, some great birds to be retrieved for the picking up teams and Pie and Prosecco for Elevenses.
